Israel came to David at Hebron’ and acknowledged him as their king. People from all over the land came to David. Formerly Saul was king but he had spent many of his years hunting down and trying to kill David. However, the Lord had delivered David from Saul’s hand, but now the former king was dead. Although many people were glad to be rid of Saul, David mourned his passing. David was sad particularly about the death of Saul’s son, his dear friend Jonathan. David had lamented,
